Extra Sleep For Children Reduces Obesity By As Much As 35%

Robert Frost famously penned, “But I have promises to keep/And miles to go before I sleep/And miles to go before I sleep.”  And while Mr. Frost is lauded as one of the great American poets, he MAY want to reconsider his to-do list and prioritize some pillow time. According to Psychology Today, skimping on snoozing can lead to a myriad of health problems, ranging from poor memory to dental damage. One particular study was compelling to parents; there was a positive correlation between increased sleep and healthy BMI in kids. Children who got an extra hour of sleep reduced their chance of obesity by as much as 35%. So while we all have a bunch on our plate, it may be wise to snag those zzz’s for your family’s overall health.
