Turtle Back Zoo’s mission is to provide an enriching recreational experience that fosters excellence in wildlife education and wildlife conservation. In 2005 the zoo completed the new Essex County Animal Hospital at Turtle Back Zoo to serve the zoo’s animal residents and the zoo began to replace the antiquated 1960’s style cages with larger naturalistic habitats for its animals, including touch tanks, sea lion sound, big cat country, African adventure and sea turtle recovery.
