The Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade is a tradition that goes back decades—starting in 1948—and has endured as a local favorite. The parade is first and foremost a way to remember and honor those who have given their lives in the service of the United States Armed Forces. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the people, culture, and freedoms they fought for.
The parade, which is the largest in Chester County, is produced by a volunteer committee that includes community members under the leadership of Kennett Collaborative, American Legion Post 491, and VFW Post 5467. Kennett Collaborative, formerly known as Historic Kennett Square, was founded in 1986 as a revitalization task force and has supported the parade by managing its finances, providing marketing, and coordinating with the Borough and local businesses.
