As autumn draws to a close, join Colonial Farmstead for Martinmas, a traditional early winter observance once known as “Old Halloween” and celebration marking the turning of the agricultural year. Observed across early modern Europe and remembered in colonial Pennsylvania, Martinmas (the Feast of St. Martin) was a time farm families readied their homes and hearths for winter. Learn about food preservation; help process wool; make a lantern and dip candles. Join us as we welcome the PA Flax Project and process flax into linen.
Join us for a lantern walk at 5:15 PM to mark the turning of the year from light to dark. The Farm will be open from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM with last admission at 4 PM. Tickets are $14 for Adults, $10 Children, and $7 Members.
